Thinking Your Way Out of the Ditch Quest for Insight eBook Abe Abraham Reviews

The author has made a very honest presentation of the aspirations and frustrations of an entrepreneur in the Federal space. Whether a beginner or a guy well into the Game, this would give enough material to think about and learn as to how or how not to do things
How hard it is to think critically, especially when you are digging your way out of a ditch! Abe Abraham, as CEO of his company, was able to hone his thinking skills by carving out time for meditation and reflexion, time alone. In his book he offers many practical suggestions for small business entrepreneurs working in the federal contracting space, but he stresses the value to him of his daily exercise of spiritual discipline---prayer, fasting and the reading of scripture. His personal philosophy is also informed by his having grown up in Ethiopia and having been orphaned at the age of 12. Abraham brings all of this to bear as his company faces a crisis after having lost a mega contract and 85% of its revenue. An interesting read.
According to me the essence of this book is not merely directed to the people who manage organization that provides solution to the federal government; but most importantly to any chief of the organization.

We as human being are more or less having the same traits, especially if we are those who run organization or acts as the President and / or CEO of an organization. We all know that sometimes that our life does not run as planned.

Faith is all we have in all difficult times. This book is very inspiring and I hope it helps giving the right direction for people in need to finding a light at the end of their dark tunnel.

Whatever our business is, we can still benefit tremendously by learning from what the author has done and managed “getting out of the ditch”.
With over two decades of operating in the government space, I'm highly recommending this book to those who are considering a business in government contracting and those who are growing their government contracting business.

Appreciate your keeping it real.
As a business owner for over 20 years and currently in government contracting, I thought this book quiets the noise of government speak and provides a genuine insight into the challenges one faces as a government contractor. More importantly, it elevated my "Emotional Intelligence", ways to strengthen my resolve, see risks and pitfalls and being very realistic about the government contracting journey.

I highly recommend it.

Abe Abraham’s ‘Thinking Your Way Out of the Ditch’ has been one of the most surprising books I have read in recent years. Although I was skeptical about its size and brevity when I first laid my hands on it, this slim book of 127 pages turned out to be quite clever and enjoyable to read.

A multidimensional book, it is a guide on how to cope with and survive seemingly insurmountable adversity in life and in business drawing from the author’s personal experience. It describes an enterprise’s journey from miniscule beginnings to a meteoric rise to become one of the largest minority owned government contracting businesses in the area. It illuminates the pitfalls and opportunities that are certain to confront one and the means to maintain stability and direction. The value of faith and family in keeping focused, are convincingly explained with appropriate passages from the good book and clever quotes.

It is also a virtual manifesto for success in the government contracting business with detailed technical inputs on winning contracts and avoiding pitfalls and snares. Some of the topics are fairly technical but clear enough even for the uninitiated to get more than just the essence of it. In this regard, this book is an excellent resource to those in interested in business (especially in contracting), and belongs in reference libraries of business schools.
The book is also a journey of self-discovery for the author tracing back to the humble beginnings and re-learning and discovering the essence of life. It is a remarkable book worth much more than the time it takes to read it
